Welcome: an AI-assisted Hyrox training diary

Why this blog exists – Apple Watch data, AI analysis, and an open training diary on the way to the Hyrox Open 2026 race.

Welcome to follow my journey toward the Hyrox Open 2026 race! This blog is a slightly different kind of training diary: it isn’t built on notes or how-I-felt summaries, but on training data collected from an Apple Watch and analysis done by AI.

How this works

Every workout travels from the wrist to the blog roughly like this:

  1. The workout happens and Apple Watch measures it. Heart rate, duration, distance, and pace are recorded down to the second in Apple Health — not just summary numbers, but raw data for the entire session.
  2. AI goes through the data. The Apple Health export is unpacked and analyzed weekly: what actually got done, how heart rate behaved, and how the outcome compares to the previous week’s plan.
  3. Both a summary and next week’s plan come out of the analysis. The AI doesn’t just repeat the plan — it reacts to what the data actually says. For example, if a session’s overall average pace looks slow, but a closer second-by-second look reveals it was actually a hard interval effort mixed in with recoveries.
  4. Everything gets published here, as-is. Also when reality doesn’t match the plan, a session gets skipped, or recovery looks poor.

Why do it this way

A traditional training diary leans on memory and feel: “felt good,” “a bit of a heavy week.” The combination of Apple Watch and AI brings something more precise — and more honest. Data doesn’t forget that surprise strength session on what was supposed to be a rest day, and it doesn’t let an average pace hide the fact that the interval reps were actually much harder than the session-wide average suggests.

The goal isn’t perfection but transparency: showing what real training — successes and shortfalls alike — looks like when viewed through data instead of memory.

What’s here

The blog carries two kinds of weekly posts: recaps of the previous week (what got done, how heart rate and recovery behaved), and plans for the coming week, built on what the data just said — not just the calendar. The goal behind the whole journey is clear: Hyrox Open, M45 category, under 1:30:00, on 19 December 2026.
